Hitler’s gold train

A legendary  train ‘loaded with treasure’ by Adolf Hitler’s  Nazis during WWII has finally been found following a death-bed confession by one of the people who took part in burying it

The mysterious train, that is 100m long and thought to be carrying gold and gems, has been discovered deep underground in Poland.

The incredible discovery was announced at a press conference by Piotr Zuchowski, the national heritage conservation officer for the Polish Culture Ministry.

Mr Zuchowski said: ‘We do not know what is inside the train.

‘Probably military equipment but also possibly jewellery, works of art and archive documents. The train is 100 metres long and is protected.

‘The fact that it is armoured indicates it has a special cargo.’

Zuchowski has urged treasure hunters to stay away.

‘Inside the hidden train – of whose existence I am convinced – there could be dangerous materials from the time of the Second World War.

‘There is a great chance that the train is mined.’

Pictures posted on Twitter claim to show excavation work at the site- which is on a four kilometre stretch of track of the Wroclaw-Walbrzych line near Walbrzych.

An armoured train, rumoured to have belonged to the Wehrmacht, disappeared into a mountain tunnel towards the end of the Second World War.

Treasure hunters have been looking for it for years and during the communist era the Polish Army and security services searched for it but could find no trace.
