Justice Ishaq Bello of Federal Capital Territory High Court on Friday granted bail to Olisa Metuh, Peoples Democratic Party’s national publicity secretary who is being tried on charges of trying to destroy evidence to be used against him.

Metuh was arraigned in court yesterday on two counts of attempting to destroy evidence to be used for his trial while he was in the custody of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He was alleged to have grabbed his witness statement from one of the investigators of the anti graft agency and attempted to chew it.

The Judge granted Metuh who is also being tried for corruption and money laundering at another court bail in the sum of N300 million and two sureties who must specify their profession. Justice Bello ordered that Metuh should be taken back to Kuje prison, Abuja until he meets his bail conditions.

The PDP National Publicity Secretary had remained in Kuje prison since he was granted bail by Justice Okon Abang before whom he is being tried on charges of corruption and money laundering.

Metuh who was granted bail in the sum of N400 million with two sureties who must be owners of landed property of the same amount and must also submit three years tax clearance certificate by Justice Abang has remained in jail due to his inability to meet the conditions .

The trial of the PDP National Publicity Secretary will begin at the two courts early next week.
