A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Friday sentenced a 27-year-old woman, Cynthia Ajiji to three months imprisonment for assaulting a police office.

The convict was arraigned on charges bordering on public nuisance, mischief and assaulting a police officer.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave Ajiji an option to pay N15, 000 fine and warned her to desist from committing crimes.

Sadiq also ordered her to pay N4,000 compensation to the nominal complainant.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that a team of police men led by Sp. Adamu Muktar, attached to Karmo Division, on Jan. 20, while on patrol arrested the convict and girls presumed to be sex workers.

He said that when one Asp. Okafor Austine was addressing and questioning the girls, Cynthia was arrogant and assaulted him and even tore his shirt inside the police station.
