An Ilorin Area Court on Wednesday dissolved a 10-year-old marriage between Medina Wahab and Alabi Wahab over assault and battering.

Medina Wahab, a resident of Shao area of ilorin, had prayed the court to dissolve her marriage because her husband, Alabi Wahab, was in the habit of assaulting and battering her and failed in his responsibility to cater to her need.

She said her marriage was contracted in 2007 and had produced four children.

“My husband always beats me to unconsciousness whenever I ask him for money or food

“My lord, I want to end this marriage because I cannot continue to stay with an irresponsible husband,” she said.

The presiding Judge, Mr. Ibrahim Abdulkadri, noted that the defendant was absent in court after being invited by the court three times.

He, therefore, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff.
