Audu Maikori, the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos based music and entertainment company, Chocolate City,  was on Monday arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrate’s Court on charges of criminal conspiracy and spreading falsehood.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Dari Bayero, the prosecution counsel told the court that the defendants conspired and spread a false story, in the social media, that five students of Kaduna State College of Education were ambushed and killed by Fulani herdsmen on January 23, 2017.

“This false information was inciting and capable of disturbing the public peace,” he alleged.

The prosecutor said the offences were punishable under section 24 of Cyber Crime Act, Laws of the Federation 2015.
