89/94 set of Mayflower to construct Clinic for School

The 1989/ 1994 set of old Student Association of Mayflower School Ikenne Ogun State formed in 2012 laid a foundation for a new ultra modern clinic within the school. It is as a way of giving back to the school for the positive impacts of the late Dr. Tai Solarin, the founder, on the students.

According to the President of the association, Ex-May Olasumbo Shogunle-Muniru, the purpose of coming together is to give back to the school, a reward of excellent academic standard, moral development and discipline, self reliance which was part of the curriculum at Mayflower.

She added that the conceptualized project was aimed at celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 89/94 set. She stated further that based on the observation of the association the school does not have a functional clinic to attend to the medical needs of the students and staff of the school since its establishment in 1956.

“It is quite disturbing that should any medical emergency arise, there is no functional medical facility for immediate medical attention’

The project chairman and supervisor, Ex-May Wale Abdul, explained that the foundation of the clinic was laid on that day which was 3rd of June in remembrance of the last day the set graduated from the school .

He added that the clinic will be constructed in such a way that it can be upgraded to a hospital level and standard in the nearest future.

He said the time frame for the completion of the project which comprises wards, doctors and nurses’ rooms, drug store, toilets, reception, record section and drilling of new bore hole as part of the project is set for about five months and to be launched in January 2019 in commemoration of the 89/94 25th anniversary.

One of the members of the 89/94 set, Honuarable Saheed Akinade Fijabi of the of Ibadan SouthWest / NorthWest Federal constituency at the House of Representatives commended the effort, the unity and team work of the 89/94 set for giving back to the school and humanity at large.

He explained that this significant unity should go a long way to translate to our great country in rendering service to humanity wholeheartedly without any reservations.

He also explained further that the project should be embraced by companies, other sets of the school for partnership for future progress.

In the vote of thanks, the Vice Principal of the school, Alhaji Disu Bolanle and the Senior Prefect of the school, Etebu Tombara, appreciated the members of the association and promised to ensure proper maintenance of the clinic as it is going to be of great benefit to the school.
