MFM and Ifeanyi Ubah players exchange pleasantries before a recent league match

High flying Lagos-based MFM FC on Saturday restated its commitment to defend its 100 per cent home record when the team squares up with Bendel Insurance FC of Benin on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that MFM FC, Group A table toppers of the abridged 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) have yet to taste defeat at their fortress, Agege Stadium, in the ongoing season.

The Olukoya Boys, however, have a date with Bendel Insurance for the NPFL Match Day 11 at the Agege Stadium.

The Fidelis Ilechukwu-tutored side has played six home games, claiming five victories and a draw.

On the strength of the team’s 100 per cent home record, MFM FC midfielder, Chijioke Akuneţo, in an interview with NAN, boasted of his team’s ability to maintain the tempo.

“We want to secure our 100 per cent home record. The match against Bendel Insurance won’t be different. We want to take all the three points at stake.

“We are aware of the qualities of the Insurance team, so won’t leave anything to chance as we are well prepared to defeat them. The Insurance team is known for picking away points, but we are up to the task.

“We will not give the team any breathing space because we want to ensure our good record in the league,’’ he said.

NAN reports that MFM FC leads the Group A standings with 18 points from nine matches. They won six, and lost three.

Bendel Insurance on the other hand are placed 10th on the log from nine matches, with a paltry one win, six draws and two losses.
