A 27-year-old salesman, James Ajine, who allegedly stole his employer’s gardening tools worth N80,000, on Wednesday appeared in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

Ajine, whose address was not provided, is charged with conspiracy and theft.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ajaga Agboko, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 10 at 3 p.m., at No. 64b, Emma Abimbola St., Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
He said that the defendant, a salesman at a gardening tools shop, stole the goods belonging to his employer, Mr Peter Udeh.
Agboko noted that Ajine stole flower pots, chemicals, scissors, trowel and gloves, all valued at N80,000.
“Udeh came to take stock and noticed that some goods are missing,” he said.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015; which attracts seven years and two years imprisonment respectively, for offenders.
The Magistrate, Mr T. A. Anjorin-Ajose, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Anjorin-Ajose ordered that the surety must be a relation of the defendant.
He adjourned the case until May 15 for further hearing.
